Steam with New VR Support Category for Oculus Rift Enabled Games

It seems that Steam has added a category in their search that allows you to easily see what games are available in the platform that have support for the Oculus Rift 3D VR HMD and even though the category is called VR Support it essentially means Oculus Rift support for now. And while we may see other games supporting different VR platforms as they become available in the future, at the moment Steam has listed 14 titles in the VR Support category though the number of games is actually a bit different. You can see the list if you open the search on Steam and go to the advanced search where you have the option to select category and at the bottom of the category list you will see the new VR Support category.

We mentioned 14 titles available under the VR Support category, but the number is actually a bit different as the list includes Team Fortress 2 two times and it is also included in the Valve Complete pack where other Valve games with Oculus Rift support are only available. The game Strike Suit Zero is also available as a standalone in the list as well as in the form of a pack Strike Suit Zero Mega Bundle that includes some extra features. There is also the game Estranged: Act I that is not yet available, but should come out next month that is listed in the VR Support category.

GameGradeVR, a Gamer Driven Ratings System for VR Drivers

December 9th, 2013 · No Comments · 3D / AR / VR / HMD

gamegradevr-logo

Our colleagues at MTBS3D just announced the release of GameGradeVR, a service very similar to the GameGrade3D, intended to help gamers rate game compatibility with the various VR drivers – TriDef Ignition, Vireio Perception, VorpX as well as native support, all of which support Oculus Rift, but some are not limited only to that 3D-capable HMD. The GameGradeVR submissions are only limited for true stereoscopic 3D support and if a game uses 2D+Depth, Virtual 3D or Z-Depth rendering to create the stereoscopic 3D effect rating for it should not be submitted. You need to be registered at MTBS3D in order to be able to submit ratings in the GameGradeVR and the good thing about this system is that it is completely user driven, meaning that a game or a VR driver that claims to provide great results and experience may not turn out to be rated as such by the actual users and the opposite can also be true. So check out the GameGradeVR if you are interested and do have in mind that it was just launched, so there are still not that many submissions and here you can help…

DDD TriDef 3D 6.0 Now Available, Oculus Rift Support as an Add-on

December 3rd, 2013 · 5 Comments · General 3D News

DDD has released the new version 6.0 of their TriDef 3D software, bringing official support for 64-bit games (previously only available in beta) as well as updating the list of game profiles, so now the new version comes with support for over 850 games. Another interesting development with the release of the new version 6.0 is that the beta TriDef 3D’s Oculus Rift support does not require you to install a beta version of the Ignition part of the software – it is now available in the form of an add-on that you can install along with the latest official release of the software. Have in mind that the Oculus Rift add-on has much more limited number of games support.
