The International 3D Society Anounced the 2013 3D Award Winners

The International 3D Society or more specifically the International 3D & Advanced Imaging Society as it was renamed earlier this year has announced the winners of their 3D Products of the Year and 3D Technology Award winners. There are thirteen products considered by its blue ribbon panel of judges to be the “Best 3D Products” of 2013, the Society’s Lumiere statuettes for 3D Technology Awards will be presented to 10 different companies that represent “the wizards” behind the camera who are increasing the thrills that 3D movies provide. The Society will also present a special “Car of the Year” award to Mercedes-Benz for its 2014 S-Class automobile, which uses a stereoscopic camera safety system. Regal Cinemas will be honored for “3D Theatre of the Year (LA Live, Los Angeles),” and optometrists and members of American Optometrists Association Dr. Michael Halkias of Chicago and Dr. Ingryd Lorenzana of Chicago will be honored as “Eye Care Professionals of the Year.” Additionally, Sony Electronics will be honored in the “Advanced Imaging” Category for its 84″ XBR 4K Ultra-HD TV, and its 4K Home Theatre ES Projector.

The Society’s awards presentations and annual meeting will be held at Paramount Studios September 18th, 2013, as a part of “3D Week” in Hollywood and Downtown Los Angeles. “3D Week” activities include: The International 3D Film Festival at LA Live and The World 3D Film Expo at the Egyptian theatre in Hollywood.

3D Independent Short Film Competition by the International 3D Society

In an effort to encourage and recognize 3D filmmakers, the International 3D Society and Autodesk have announced a worldwide 3D short film competition open to 3D filmmakers around the world. The competition is open to any short subject work of 40 minutes or less and you can already submit your work if it is finished. Filmmakers can upload their works to a secure 3D website (powered by Nvidia and Fordela), the Deadline for entries is November 16, 2012 (11:00PM PST). Entries will be judged by a panel of Society voting member professionals in January 2013. The winning filmmaker will be flown to Los Angeles to receive his or her award at the Creative Arts Awards Ceremony in February next year (currently scheduled for February 5, 2013).

The 2012 3D Technology Award Winners Were Officially Announced

The International 3D Society has announced the 14 companies and organizations that are going to be honored at its 2012 3D Technology Awards on January 19th in Hollywood. The Awards Committee considered 3D technologies with an eye on those that are genuine advances to the state of the art and you will see that there are not much surprises in the list announced…
