GeForce GTX 480 Unigine and 3D Vision Surround Video Demonstration

With the nearing of the official announcement of the new generation “Fermi” video cards NVidia continues to tease us, showing what they can do a bit by bit, this time we have a video demonstration. In the video above Tom Petersen Director of Technical Marketing at Nvidia shows and describes how the performance of GeForce GTX 480 compares to existing solution (ATI Radeon HD 5870). Then highlights the different aspects of the benchmark and how the new GeForce GTX480 cards excel in tessellation, especially when there is more heavy processing needed. Tom also offers a quick peak at how 3D Vision Surround is pushing PC gaming forward at the end of the video by showing for a brief moment a working 3D Vision system with 3x Acer GD245HQ/GD235HZ displays connected to a SLI system with dual GTX480 video cards to enable the 3D Vision Surround.

Nürburgring 24 Hour Race Stereoscopic 3D Video in 1080p

Nvidia has made available another nice stereoscopic 3D video on their website, designed to be watched on your 3D Vision glasses/monitor setup or on any other S3D system that you might have. The video is called Nürburgring 24 Hour Race and shows some really nice moments from the car race on the Nurburgring racing track shot in 3D. You should definitely watch it and the only drawback is that it is a bit short, only 2:20 minutes, but still a great demo on what can be achieved when shooting stereoscopic 3D in Full HD resolution. Now what we want is more full featured movies shot in S3D to be able to enjoy on out home stereoscopic 3D setups…

Nvidia 3D Vision Video Player v1.4.7

Nvidia has just released an updated version of their stereoscopic 3D video player designed for use with 3D Vision – both for 3D Vision shutter glasses and the 3D Vision Discover mode (anaglyph red-cyan glasses). With this player you can also watch field sequential DVD Video movies in 3D on your GeForce 3D Vision system. Here is what is new and updated in the latest version 1.4.7:

– Added support for Fujifilm FinePix Real 3D W1 multi-stream AVI files.
– Added decoder selection for MJPEG format.
– Changed quality statistics dialog.
– No audio renderer is enforced in the preferred filters list.
– Fixed relative paths in playlists.
– Fixed layout detection from file suffix in playlists.
