Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight Multiplayer Beta and 3D Vision

February 24th, 2010 · No Comments · Stereo 3D Games

There is a closed multiplayer only beta currently going on for the game Command & Conquer 4:Tiberian Twilight and I’ve managed to take a quick look at it and try how the game performs with 3D Vision in stereo 3D mode. The new C&C 4 RTS game is expected to be released on March 16th and certainly has a lot of detail to show to the player in stereoscopic 3D mode, but the problem is that the game is far from handling nice and there are some issues. No 3D Vision profile is yet available and you need to tweak the convergence yourself to get acceptable results as the 2D HUD is actually rendered in 3D and by default is not at screen depth, but the health bars and unit info is in plain 2D and appears at screen depth. Other than that the crosshair is 2D which can create problems especially for an RTS games, there are some issues with the shadows and a few with lights – for example with the glow of green tiberium crystals. On the other hand you can achieve pretty nice pop-out effect with the right convergence, so after the beta if the final game can be optimized or patched to work properly in S3D mode it will be great, otherwise it will remain a non S3D recommended title.
