3D Rarities – A Screening of Old 3D Movies From 1900 and Beyond

August 22nd, 2010 · No Comments · Stereo 3D Events

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will present some of the earliest examples of three-dimensional motion pictures in a special event scheduled to take place on September 7th at Linwood Dunn Theater at the 1313 Vine Street in Hollywood, California (USA). The movie screening will start at 7:30 p.m. with Serge Bromberg as a host, an internationally recognized film historian, who will present Lumiere brothers’ early film “Arrival of a Train at La Ciotat” and other rarities by Georges Melies, Norman McLaren, Charley Bowers and the Disney Studios in the 3D edition of his “Retour de Flamme (Saved from the Flames)” show which highlights archival rediscoveries and features his own commentary and live piano accompaniment. This will be a great chance to see some of the earliest 3D movies ever made, so definitely a great experience for anyone interested in 3D cinema and hopefully we will see similar events in other parts of the world too.
