The presence or lack of pop-out in a video depends on the video itself, if the original 3D video does offers mostly depth, then you cannot do much. You can try to do some parallax adjustment, but that happens at the cost of some of the resolution of the video. Still it can help bring the whole picture a bit out of the screen...

Most 3D movies don't have a lot of pop-out, because it is "harder" for the eyes and you will be tiring the audience more if you constantly have things that seem to be flying out to you, so the most you will get are like a few good scenes in each movie with some nice pop-out effect.

A good example for intended pop-out effect is at the beginning of the movie Monsters vs Aliens, when one of the research guys is playing for a brief moment with a ping pong ball... you can try to see how that looks converted to colorcode.

I just ordered a couple free pairs of ColorCode Anaglyph glasses from the Natioinal Film Board.
They now send out 2 free pairs for personal use, 10 for institutional use.
I'm going to be testing this script out afterward too!

I've been getting into a lot of 3D stuff lately, ever since the trailers for Transformers: Dark of the Moon have been coming out.

And so far, Red/Cyan is okay (the only glasses i have and the first anaglyph I've seen). But now that I'm learning more, I want to try out ColorCode to try eliminate some of the Red harshness.

Looking forward to seeing how this works out, thanks for your hard work everyone!

Red/cyan is still the most common anaglyph choice as it is much easier to implement as compared to other anaglyph solutions... not as easy to convert to colorcode as you can do with red-cyan... there are already a lot of tools available for red/cyan and that is why people still use it as a primary solution... the glasses for it are also much easier to find. Even when colorcode provides better results and isn't as tiring for the eyes for longer use...

On a side note, using anaglyph for objects that have a lot of depth or pop-out brings more visible ghosting and is harder for the eyes to focus as opposed to passive or active solution where it is easier to handle it. Also it may take some time for your eyes to adjust to more extreme situations, because when they need to cross more or diverge more for scenes with more pop-out or depth it is not that easy the first few times and then you just get used to it more and more and have no troubles. So watching 3D video do require some training and adjustment as with pretty much anything you are new at, but the problem is that some people do not wan to do that and just give up on their first try when they sense something a bit uncomfortable for them ;)

With time and experiencing 3D you can learn to get the volume even in the faster scenes/transitions with significantly different volume levels, although I suppose that using anaglyph solution for viewing makes it a bit harder and slower for you to accommodate...
