Yes it does show a stereoscopic 3d option in the nvidia control panel

Not sure how to take screenshot but it says

Stereoscopic 3D
Set up stereoscopic 3D
View compatibility with games

When i click on set up it brings up a window saying enable stereoscopic 3D. When i tick this it takes me into the setup screen whereby it gives me 4 options, none of which work as they are all relating to nvidia hubs, glasses etc. there is no option to set up a 3d TV display.

I have a feeling that the gts 250 is just one model below what is required for 3d blu ray playback. It says that it is 3d able but i wonder if it is talking about 3d gaming and not movies?

what do you think of the gt 430 or 440? Will this be a better option?

The GTS 250 may not be able to do hardware-accelerated decoding of Blu-ray 3D video, however it should still be able to play it with the decoding done by the CPU. You can try the 14-day trial of the 3DTV Play software as well to see if it will help.

dont all 3d tvs have a built in option to display 3d broadcasts?

the easiest way would be to just play the file back as side by side and just turn on the option from the tv

Yes, you can do that, but having Full HD source and playing in Side by Side with half horizontal resolution (squashed) will lead to loss of little detail, so you should be doing this as a last choice if you are having trouble making it work using the HDMI 1.4(a) frame packaging that transmits Full HD frames for each eye.

Just thought i would report back.

I now have everything up and working properly.

The previous video card although supporting 3d games did not support 3d bluray movies.

I have now got myself a GT 430 and everything is working perfectly. Simple plug and play.

Appreciate all your help.
