My VG278H was produced in November 2011.

Resurrecting this topic for a moment : I finally got my refund by Amazon.de (very professional) but without the posting bill (60 € ).
I was eager to buy another 27, the Asus VG278H until I read the topic on nvidia official forum talking about it : horrible bleeding sometimes noticeable when playing games and frequent emitter problem...
Sincerly is there one single 3D 27' sold nowaday that is worth the price it cost and that equals best 3D 24' in quality...

[update] I m even considering bying the old ACER HN274hbmiiid forgetting about 3DVision 2...still wondering if it s a good idea but as I can get it for 430 € maybe it s worth it ?

If I got that right, I can tell you the Acer 27 inch 3D that came out last Spring works great!!!

I have never had any problems from it and I have rarely heard of any problems from it. Its not 3D Vision 2 Light boost, but I still see awesome 3D in my games and picture (3D pics) and movies.

It a solid investment in my book.....

OK I guess that I will have to find Bloody's study and conclusion about 3DVision 2's advantages over 3DVision 1

Good luck! When Acer or Asus finally have a dependable (3D vison 2) product, I plan to take a close look at it. Because its so expensive I would have to wait anyway for my money situation to improve.


About my current monitor, I wonder if I increased the brightness some, would that improve the "light" vs "lightboost"...

Increasing the light (contrast) in stereo 3D mode over the factory default value also increases the level of crosstalk, using lightboost does not increase the corsstalk, but even on lightboost-enabled monitors playing with the level of contrast may reflect on the crosstalk/ghosting you get.

The first Acer Hn274H is still probably the most problem free 27-inch 3D monitor you can get for now, and although it does not come with lightboost it still overs quite high brightness. I'm still waiting for a replacement unit of the new HN274H B to test its performance.

Thank you for the message praising my Monitor, I certainly agree that its a terrific solid 3D monitor. i also own the 24 inch Acer 3D, and both continue to work great!!! I recently saw ASUS finally responding to the poor reviews on the NEWEGG web site store, maybe they are fixing the thing.

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I just got the Acer HN274Bbmiiid monitor and experience the same problem as everyone else here: vertical black lines that seem to half the resolution when in 3D mode.
Is there any update whether this is a hardware defect or is this normal? I've read a lot of reviews and can't believe nobody noticed this!

It is a hardware issues, you need to get the monitor replaced with a new one that will not have the problem.

When was your unit manufactured (look at the sticker on the back of the display)?

So you got your replacement and it did not show this behavior? Because I think it is quite strange that so many monitors have this issue.
I'll have a talk with Amazon. Either I'll send it back and get a refund or they exchange it and I'll test again.
Is there a certain manufacture date that should be avoided?
