Sony Vegas Pro 11 Video Editor Comes With Improved 3D Support

October 17th, 2011 · 8 Comments · General 3D News

Sony has just announced the availability of their new Vegas Pro 11 software, after the software was initially announced on September 9 during IBC 2011. The Sony Vegas Pro 10 NLE video editor was one of the first major professional packages to get support for full stereoscopic 3D workflow and Sony is continuing to improve it with every new update, as the case with the new version 11. Sony Vegas Pro offers a complete integrated stereo 3D video editing workflow without the need of use of external plugins and the new version 11 comes with extra tools to enhance and improve this 3D workflow. Here are the most interesting new things regarding the use of the software for editing stereoscopic 3D video:

2D and 3D Text Tools – Quickly create dynamic and visually stunning text animations and effects within Vegas Pro 11. Add 3D titles with the new Titler Pro from NewBlueFX, a great addition to the stereoscopic 3D workflow. Users can manipulate text down to the character level and on the X, Y, and Z axes. Stylized 2D motion can be applied to text events using the Titles and Text tool or with the improved ProType titler.

Improved NVIDIA 3D Vision Support – Users can now edit on single-display 3D computers including VAIO F Series 3D laptops and VAIO L Series All-in-One 3D desktop systems.

Vegas Pro 11 improves on its ground-breaking “no transcode, no re-wrap” heritage by adding native format support for stereoscopic 3D MVC and MPO files from Sony camcorders and DSLRs.

Vegas Pro 11 should now available for purchase wit Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $699 USD, with upgrades from previous versions of Vegas Pro available for $199 USD.

Whoo boy, but it sure feels buggy; crashed several times in the first 5 minutes of use when I was trying to work with AVC-encoded side-by-side footage.

” Users can now edit on single-display 3D computers”
I have a DELL U3011 as my main display… if I got a 3D Vision monitor as a secondary display can I use that to view the output but keep my timeline and whatnot on the main WQXGA display?

What I am asking is can you use 3D Vision in a dual monitor setup?

Jeff, I think your 3D Vision monitor needs to be set as primary to work in 3D with it…

Yea, looks like that. They mention that if you have a line alternate display you can use it as a secondary output. That is too bad, 3DVision monitors are limited to 1080p. I would rather use my WQXGA monitor to edit, even if it means I need to preview in anaglyph.

Jeff, you can have the preview in anaglyph mode on the 2D monitor without the need for 3D Vision support… it was fully supported even with the previous few versions.

Sony Vegas Pro 11 Video Editor Comes With Improved 3D Support

before you buy a 3D camcorder no one prevent you about this problem have of all 3d camcorders , the problem of parallax convergence . This problem exist because the 2 lenses of all 3d camcorders´╗┐ are not motorized to move horizontally , the 2 lenses are fixed and it don’t move so all videos out with parallax incorrect´╗┐ and it need edit before watching 3D footage from the 3D camcorder because if you don’t adjut it you will have eyes pain and headache after 5 minutes

You can do 3D parallax convergence adjustment with Sony Vegas Pro v11 , Cineform Studio , Cineform Neo3D BUT all this 3d editors SUCK ! it make hard work for you to adjust one by one 3D parallax adjustment manually but how are time to loose to adjust mannualy each 3d clip with low results like automatic one push button bad parallax fix ? The single software to do automatic bad parallax fix from all 3d camcorder are Magix Video Deluxe MX Premium v18 ! german software !
