You Should Try OIO The Game in Stereoscopic 3D Mode with 3D Vision

October 5th, 2011 · 4 Comments · Stereo 3D Games

I’ve found another interesting and fun new game that can really look awesome in stereo 3D mode when using 3D Vision, the game I’m talking about is called OIO. It is a kind of 3D platformer game, but a one that offers a unique style and fresh gameplay that you may like a lot or not like at all, it varies from person to person. The game OIO has been developed by Uncanny Games which is an independent game development studio based in France. You can download a demo version off the official game site and also purchase the full game for about $10 USD if you like what you see in the demo and how the game can look in stereoscopic 3D mode.

There is of course no 3D Vision profile available for the game, but with a bit of tweaking of the convergence level you can easily get it to look great in stereo 3D mode and get it looking great even by pushing the depth level to the maximum. Pretty much everything renders in stereo 3D apart form the mouse cursor, but that is not bothersome at all while playing, only in menus where you should lower the depth levels anyway. Also on some extreme closeup cut-scenes such as at the beginning of the game when the introduction starts you may get too much separation, but these are not common throughout the game and lowering the depth temporary can of course help here as well. I’ve included my custom convergence settings below that you can use as a start point and keep using if you like them or adjust further to your preferences. I’ve also uploaded some screenshots from the game in stereo 3D format that you can take a look at, they are taken at a more moderate depth level, so they should not bother less experienced 3D gamers.

I just grabbed fable 3 at the steam sale for $17 (66% off), heard it works in 3d vision, gonna xbox 360 + sword it maybe maybe some bow too :) also i heard there’s co op but u didn’t email me tom green! :(

how about a tom-green like ‘not fake acting’ stunt show, maybe copy the jackass guys a bit, but also get some programmers in on it or something, like a kinect style mocap that isn’t fake…perhaps based on observations with tons of footage from many hidden cameras, or otherwise perhaps make more videos for the internet in many formats, incluidng flash or silverlight or youtube….

or if you wanna do 3d stuff, how about tom green 3d video? also if you’re not tom green or playin dead due to breakin laws or somethin, that’s cool too lol you seen ghost rider on his hayabusa tauntin the cops on youtube ? lol i own one of those outfits too ;p

Just tried the game and it’s too bad that the reflections on the water are at the wrong depth. Also the jumping isn’t well executed, I though we were long past the era of platformers where falling is annoying as hell, guess I was wrong.
