November 12th, 2010 · 4 Comments · Stereo 3D Events

DogVille 3D Film Festival of Stereo 3D Short films (Former FICS-3D) will be the first international independent Short Film Festival of videos made with 3D Digital Stereo technology ever carried out in Spain. It will take place in the town of Viladecans, Barcelona on the 15th and 16th of April 2011. This festival, organized by AEI DIFIS-3D, will be an opportunity to get to know the works in digital video in 3D Stereo format of amateurs, professionals and producers. The event will also generate discussion and it will be a chance to update the existing knowledge among experts in the media arts of 3D.

Being a first festival of reference in this area it has obtained the support of 3Dintegral SL, LA SALLE-URL, TV3, the Eurostereofoundation and the Stéréo Club Français. These are institutions with extensive experience in organizing international events in the audiovisual and technology world. In addition to the screening of the selected short films, along with the contest, there will be a free exhibition, round tables, workshops and conferences in which 3D professionals will find a space to showcase their technological innovations in the new world of three-dimensional technology.

Participation and submission of short films to the Festival is open to any individual or group of amateurs and professionals who independently make short videos in digital 3D Stereo format. The three categories accepted for the festival are: 3D Professional short film, 3D Amateur short film and S-3D Animation short film. The type of the short video is not limited, so it can be a reportage, fiction, animation, experimental, documentary or another genre or type of video. The festival is open for international entries, so if you are a stereo 3D content creator yourself, then you might as well check out the additional information you need to participate.

Hmmm… take a look at the last page of the entry form for the “festival”.

If you enter your film, you are giving Televisió de Catalunya “limitless” rights to broadcast it.

This looks much less like a legitimate festival and more like a way for a TV company to get tons of free 3D programming.

    In my humble opinion:

It is a GREAT OPPORTUNITY to be able to spread our S3D work in a festival and the possible emission in TV is not a problem: it is a GREAT BENEFIT OF PERSONAL PROMOTION, because in a sector with few contents to start with 3D TV channels, if we are announced and promotes us in a professional platform (TV), we will have the opportunity to be contracted as producers/creators of 3D contents on TV channels otherwise perhaps would not know us. My point is that our 3D creations, they are not to storage in a locked drawer, IF NO TO SPREAD THEM WITH THE PURPOSE OF PLEASURE AND IT COULD BE FOR US AN IMPORTANT ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY, GOODWILL/PROMOTION STAFF AND WORK IN A NEAR FUTURE.

definitely we will participate with a short S3D animation and we hope that both the festival and the broadcast on TV will be a good platform to let us know.
