The recent beta drivers listed Arcania as ‘not recommended’ for 3D Vision. The requirements for the game are pretty astounding, too. Two Worlds 2 might have a better shot.

I wonder why…If I remember correctly, even Mass Effect 2 is rated as “FAIR” and with a little tweaking and stuff you can actually achieve very good quality. I do believe this is the case with Arcania. Well we’ll see when the demo is released what is this about.

Lara Croft and the guardian of light -demo is out. At 1st impression the game looks ok. Still I’m trying to play with the convergence a little.

Lara Croft and the guardian of light is actually good in 3D vision. There is no profile defined in the latest beta drivers. Increasing the convergence results in awesome 3d effects thou. Everything is maxed , except antialiasing which is set for 4x which should be enough.

I checked the compatibility list for “Arcania -Gothic 2″ as is written in the latest driver’s list. It is ” Not Recommended” because of the halo around the objects and stuff. I remember playing a game made by Piranha Bytes who made the first 3 gothic games. It is called RISEN. Not this game doesn’t even appear in the 3D vision game list. This game was playable in 3D with minimum depth (or any depth but no shadows) I do believe this is the same case. From what I read the engine is kinda similar in the way it was developed. Hope this helps.

Any info on Darksiders? I wanted to play this game when the console versions came out earlier this year but I waited for the PC-version because of S3D. I need to know if it’s good. If not I won’t buy it. I am not very demanding, no problem if it’s not perfect by any means. I just want to know if it’s playable in S3D without major problems…….

Does anyone know if F1 2010 is actually in Stereo 3D on the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions? I can’t find that info anywhere.

  • 8 Bloody // Sep 22, 2010 at 19:56

I do hope that Darksiders will look good in stereo 3D mode, there is still no 3D Vision profile available for it, but I’m expecting good results.

F1 2010 has a 3D Vision profile already, but it is not a game intended to be played in stereo 3D mode by the developer, so no native support and thus no S3D mode on consoles, only on PC!

I’ve just pre-purchased Blade Kitten so i’ll see how it works out :D

  • 10 steve // Sep 22, 2010 at 21:47

Works very well! have to disable shadows else doubling occurs.

  • 11 Helifax // Sep 24, 2010 at 02:03

DarkRiders is an awesome game (reminds me of God of war). Even if an official profile for 3D vision isn’t available yet, the game performs very well in 3D( a little converge tweaking and it;s almost perfect).

  • 12 Helifax // Sep 24, 2010 at 02:04

My bad. Darksiders it’s the name of the game.(kinda late : really should go to bed.lol)

  • 13 Helifax // Sep 24, 2010 at 02:15

Uhuu..gothic 4 (arcania demo is available to download) I’ll get it tomorrow and post everything I find out about it ( regarding 3d vision and not only)

  • 14 Helifax // Sep 24, 2010 at 14:02

I’ve tested Arcania (Gothic 4) demo. Unfortunately, the engine seems to be somehow similar with the one used by Risen and even worse. There are a lot of halos around the characters and objects. The shadows render bad in 3D and there is no way to disable them completely. I tested it even on minimal depth and the results are still bad. so yes this game is unplayable. If anyone finds any workaround please share.

  • 15 Zloth // Sep 26, 2010 at 01:26

I don’t think that one is going to have a work-around. It’s not just shadows, the thing is a complete mess: http://img833.imageshack.us/i/arcanianotgoodfor3ds.jpg/

You’re going to want to take the glasses off and play this one flat for sure.

  • 16 Matthias // Sep 28, 2010 at 16:19

I have played the Arcania (Gothic 4) demo in stereo 3D, and can just state, that it is pretty much unplayable because of the buggy transparent water and even more by the shine of fire “halo” effects, that get pretty annoying in most of the caves. Why can’t we just switch of those buggy effects (or can we?) like it is possible for the shadows (using the ini file). I am really disappointed.

    Best regards,

  • 17 Helifax // Nov 23, 2010 at 21:34

I’ve developed a patch that makes the game 90% playable (Arcania). Some elements still render as 2D thou..(shadows some items etc) but the game is very playable. You can read more here:
