The Volunteer Stereoscopic 3D Teaser Video

July 24th, 2010 · 1 Comment · 3D Movies & Videos

This is a teaser for an upcoming film by Ryan Sheffer called The Volunteer in stereo 3D Side by Side format with the teaser also available in anaglyph 3D and as a normal 2D version on the official website. The video is in 1080p half horizontal resolution (squashed), so you need to select 16:9 aspect ratio when playing it in 3D Vision Video Player or the Stereoscopic Player. It has been shot using two Canon 7D DSLR cameras using a custom stereo 3D rig, edited in Final Cut with all stereography and compositing work done in Adobe After Effects. You can also watch the 3D teaser on YouTube 3D. The volume effects are quite good with the depth going a bit too much at times, but you can be the judge of that. It’s great to see teams creating 3d using inexpensive technology an coming out with decent results – I noticed a few Andrew Kramer influences in the fx.

I felt a few of the shots had some problems with interaxial distance – I found myself squinting through my GeForce glasses where the background was too divergent – I’d advise the filmmakers to be careful of his as it may cause discomfort/headaches to viewers and stop them watching.

    But overall great effort!
