DDD TriDef 3D Ignition 3.5.18 Beta 4 Software Now Available

May 16th, 2012 · 9 Comments · General 3D News

DDD has just released a new beta version of their TriDef 3D Ignition software for playing games in stereoscopic 3D mode (it is just the Ignition software, not the whole TriDef 3D package) and it is something that you might want to try out, especially if you play Battlefield 3 in stereo 3D. TriDef 3D Ignition 3.5.18 Beta 4 provides a better stereoscopic 3D profile for Battlefield 3, it also adds profile for the recently released Diablo 3 and fixes some other things.

TriDef 3D Ignition 3.5.18 Beta 4 changelog:

- Added new game profiles for Diablo 3 and other games.
- Improved performance of Power 3D in DX10/11.
- Fixed a few visual bugs in Battlefield 3 and Batman Arkham CIty.
- Fixed a game launch issue in Windows 8.
- Added a search box in the Add Game dialog.

According to a just published stereoscopic 3D review of Battlefield 3 over at MTBS3D, the profile for Battlefield 3 in the latest beta of Ignition makes the stereoscopic 3D experience while playing the game with DDD TeiDef 3D Ignition better looking than using the game’s native stereo 3D rendering on AMD HD3D and Nvidia 3D Vision. With the best part being the lack of “flatness” when you are in a vehicle or in the cutscenes, something that is happening when using the native stereo 3D rendering from the game. And although this might’ve been something made intentionally by the game developers, most stereoscopic 3D gamers usually prefer to have more depth than to have things appearing “flat”. Another thing that apparently works quite well with the game is the Shift One Eye, Dominant Eye feature also recently introduced by DDD. If you try the new beta software with Battlefield 3 feel free to share your feedback below and the same goes if you are already playing Diablo 3 and want to test it with the new profile added in TriDef 3D Ignition 3.5.18 Beta 4. And just a reminder, this is a beta software, so there could be some issues.

Ghost Recon: Future Soldier Will Have Stereoscopic 3D Support

April 4th, 2012 · 5 Comments · Stereo 3D Games

Ubisoft has announced that the PC version of the game Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier will be available in stores and for digital download on June 12th and that it will be supporting stereoscopic 3D. The most interesting thing here however is the fact that it is not the usual stereo 3D support announcement that we see coming with Nvidia’s 3D vision Ready game titles, or the more rare AMD HD3D nativr support announcements, this time it is “TriDef stereoscopic support”. Now, that does not mean that you will not be able to play the game in stereo 3D mode using other 3D-capable solutions such as 3D Vision or AMD HD3D, or even with iZ3D, it just means that the game will be optimized for best results when using DDD’s TriDef 3D software.

Ghost Recon: Future Soldier PC version features:

- PC high standard visuals (DX11 renderer, new high-quality assets, new post process effects, multi-monitor solutions support, TriDef stereoscopic support).
- DirectX11 enhanced: tessellation (for soft 3D models), compute shaders-based realistic lighting (for global illumination), volumetric fog.
- Online widget: Party, Friends and Ghost Feed functionality can be accessed at any moment from any screen
- Extended party functionality: simplified and more flexible invitation system
- Party text chat
- Uplay Friends system
- Fully customizable controls for the localized keyboards

The stereoscopic 3D support however is just one of the extra features that Ghost Recon: Future Soldier will support as it will be a DX11 game title and will also offer multi-monitor solutions support (supposedly will look good in stereo 3D multi-monitor setups as well). The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 console versions of the game are scheduled to be released on May 22nd in North America and there is no word about stereoscopic 3D support in them, so they will most likely not have S3D support.

TriDef 3D 5.2 New Feature: Shift One Eye, Dominant Eye

March 26th, 2012 · 3 Comments · Other S3D Tech

The latest TriDef 3D 5.2 (Ignition 3.5.6) software has introduced another interesting new feature that I kind of missed at first and you might’ve as well – the “Shift One Eye” feature. It is something that you might want to play with a bit to see if it will work well for you and that may depend a lot from one person to another.

Traditionally, 3D is produced by shifting the camera viewpoint to the left of centre for one eye, and to the right for the other. With Shift One Eye turned on, the camera will remain in the central position for one of the views, and be shifted to the left or right for the other. This is great for first-person shooters, for example, as it allows you to use the game’s inbuilt aiming system.

The Dominant Eye setting can be used to specify which of your eyes is dominant (this eye will see the unshifted view). According to various sources (listed on Wikipedia) around two thirds of the population is right eye dominant, so we’ve used that as the default setting.

When using Power 3D mode, shifting one eye also improves performance. It’s for this reason that Shift One Eye is turned on automatically if Power 3D Quality is set to “Medium” or “Low”.

In order to be able to test the new feature you need to run a game from within TriDef 3D Ignition, then call up the OSD menu (default key for that is Numpad 0), navigate to the Output menu and turn on the “Shift One Eye” feature, and you can also change which is your dominant eye – Left or Right.
