Here is a true stereoscopic 3D trailer for the movie Alice in Wonderland shared by the reader twisterbr that you can download and watch in 3D. We are a bit late with this one as the movie has been out for quite some time now, but since the movie studios do not release publicly stereoscopic 3D trailers yet it is still quite hard to get your hands on any of these promotional materials. Do not ask me why Hollywood is not taking this advantage in order to promote their 3D movies to the hungry for 3D content crowd and still act so weird by guarding the 3D trailers more then the actual movies!

Anyway, the trailer is in true stereoscopic 3D format and not an autoconversion, although the movie Alice in Wonderland was actually shot in 2D and later converted to 3D, but unlike with some other titles the conversion process here was actually done quite well… and you can see that for yourself if you watch the trailer. The trailer itself is in Side by Side format, 1080p half horizontal resolution (squashed), so do not forget to select 16:9 aspect ratio when opening the video in the 3D Vision Video Player or the Stereoscopic Player. More good news for today, another stereoscopic 3D trailer available for download thanks to ReMichael, this time the trailer is for the movie Open Season which is another animation also soon coming to Blu-ray 3D. It seems that the first wave of movie titles on Blu-ray 3D will be all with animated movies and if you are eager to get Avatar in 3D, you’ll still have to wait more as it will probably be available in November as a bundle with Panasonic and maybe next year as a separate title on Blu-ray 3D. But back on the trailer for Open Season, here the 3D effect is not so wowing, instead the separation is less and the movie offers nice depth feeling, making it seem more natural and comfortable to watch. Of course the trailer is in Full HD resolution, Side by Side format, so you can enjoy it in a very good quality when opening with 3D Vision Video Player or the Stereoscopic Player. Shame on James Cameron for still not releasing a stereoscopic 3D version of the trailer for Avatar, but still trying to convince us to go watch the movie in 3D by just showing us some “flat” teasers and trailers with scenes from the movie. Today I’ve played a bit and managed to prepare a stereoscopic 3D version convert from the official trailer of the movie that looks nice, but don’t expect anything to hit you in the face with this one. Converting 2D to Stereoscopic 3D video does not provide the same great results as when shooting the video in S3D and then providing it in that format, but still it is better than plain 2D so you might as well enjoy the converted trailer…

The 720p trailer is encoded in Windows Media Video format as I had some weird sync issues when trying to use H.264 and the video is in Interlaced format (Field Sequential) so you’ll need to tell the 3D Vision Stereoscopic player to use Interlaced, Left Line First mode when opening the file with aspect ratio of 16:9. You should of course be able to play the video with other respective video players and 3D setups that do support this format, although I did this convert especially for 3D Vision owners. You can also try out the new 1080p S3D teaser trailer of Avatar that provides higher resolution, better quality and is encoded in side-by-side format with another 2D to 3D custom conversion that I’ve been working on.
