New Nvidia GeForce 3D Vision Driver CD v1.34 Beta Now Available

August 12th, 2010 · 12 Comments · GeForce 3D Vision

This just came out right before the 2010 PGA Championship live streaming in 3D starts. The CD v1.34 contains the new GeForce GPU driver v259.32 beta and NVIDIA 3D Vision driver v259.32 beta. The update adds 3D Vision streaming support for Firefox 4 and Google Chrome web browsers as well as the 3D Vision profiles released in the 1.33 beta driver from few days ago. Lets hope that this driver also fixes the issues that some people had with Silverlight-based 3D Vision streaming when stopping the stream, as well as SLI configurations not being supported…

The 2010 PGA Championship Live 3D Coverage for 3D Vision Users

August 3rd, 2010 · 1 Comment · GeForce 3D Vision

If you have a system equipped with Nvidia 3D Vision, you’ll be able to watch a live stream of The 2010 PGA Championship at Whistling Straits in Kohler, Wisconsin on August 12-13. It is another golf tournament in 3D after The Masters 3D broadcasts and NASCAR in 3D, so if you are interested you’ll be able to see some of the world’s greatest golfers in true 3D as they compete for the coveted Wanamaker Trophy along the shores of Lake Michigan.

This is the PGA Tour’s last major tournament of the season, and to capture the action eight 3D cameras will be stationed on the par-3 12th and 17th holes at Whistling Straits from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. ET on Thursday, August 12th and Friday, August 13th. The online broadcast in stereo 3D will be using the same Silverlight streaming 3D technology we had with the NASCAR 3D broadcast, so you’ll be able to watch it directly from your browser and you will not need additional software players. The official page lists 3.5 Megabits or more internet connection as required for best quality, so we are probably going to get 720p 3D stream online with maximum quality.

Unlike with NASCAR’s 3D stream however, here we still don’t have a demo player to test before the streaming of the event actually starts, so if you had no trouble watching the NASCAR Live 3D stream online, then you should be Ok for this one too.
