Short Test Video of BMW 740d in Stereo 3D Format

The last weekend we did some stereo 3D shots of a test BMW 740d car and I’ve used this opportunity to finally test the native stereoscopic 3D capabilities of the new Sony Vegas Pro 10 video editing software. The video was shot with a dual camera parallel stereoscopic 3D rig using two Sony SR11E HD cameras with interaxial distance of 8 centimeters (about 3.14 inches), then edited with Vegas Pro 10 and the output is in Side by Side format, full 720p resolution. The quality is quite good, however for the next time I’ll need some sort of stabilizing system for the 3D rig as the shaking of the cameras is a bit annoying at times… the whole video was shot with the cameras held in hand. As for using Sony Vegas Pro 10 for stereo 3D video editing, I quite liked the tools and workflow it offers, I quickly got used to it and find it to be the most comfortable complete solution for editing in 3D for now for non-professional users of course, although professionals on a tighter budget may also find it as a good choice. The video is also available on YouTube 3D. And as usual you are welcome to share your comments should you watch it…
