Playing the Game Blade Kitten in Stereo 3D Mode with 3D Vision

September 24th, 2010 · 2 Comments · Stereo 3D Games

The game Blade Kitten that I’ve mentioned two days ago in the post Interesting Upcoming Games to Try Playing in Stereoscopic 3D Mode is now out and the good news is it looks quite nice in stereo 3D mode when player with 3D Vision. You can get Blade Kitten from Steam $14.99 USD to download it and start playing immediately. There is no official 3D Vision game profile available yet, but even with the default settings the game looks quite nice, the only thing you should do is to disable the Shadows as they are not properly rendered. Other than the issue with the shadows the game looks very good in stereo 3D mode with more depth going for the background, similar to what you can get in other third person games like Trine for example that now also looks great in S3D mode.

The in-game cutscenes are not pre-rendered movies which means they are also rendered in stereo 3D mode, however there are some extreme closeups while the best convergence settings while playing the game can be tweaked a bit for better results. The default convergence settings are somewhat a compromise between the cutscenes and the gameplay providing good balance, but you should consider turning down the depth level to the minimum each time when you get into such a scene and then after that do increase the depth level again a bit. This is just an example that would benefit a lot from the availability of an auto-convergence mode or at least a profiling system for each game, however the 3D Vision drivers still don’t have such a modes, so you have to keep the balance with what you have. I’ve taken some 3D screenshots from the game to give you an idea about what you will get, unfortunately there were some trouble trying to record a stereoscopic 3D gameplay movie, so there isn’t one available for now.
