Can you say if bigger is better for stereo 3D? Well, Nintendo apparently thinks so as they have introduced a new bigger version of the Nintendo 3DS portable game console – the Nintendo 3DS XL (will be called Nintendo 3DS LL in Japan). What is new is the larger size of the displays that comes with the increased size of the console, improved battery life and a bundled 4GB SD card. The top screen will be 4.88-inches and the bottom one will be 4.18-inches or roughly 90 percent bigger than on 3DS, the battery will last 3.5 to 6.5 hours while playing 3DS games (as compared to 3 to 5 hours with the 3DS). What is not yet clear is if the new console will only have a larger screen with the same resolution, or the resolution will also be increased. Most likely however there will be no change in the resolution as the 3DS XL will be fully backwards compatible with the 3DS games, so it will be more of a size change only.
The New Nintendo 3DS XL portable game console will be out in Japan and Europe on July 28 and a bit later in North America, on August 19 with a price of US$199.99. Initially the new console will be available in Black, Black and Blue, and Black and Red. So what do you think about the new Ninendo 3DS XL, is bigger the better in this case?
