New 3D Vision Driver CD version 1.38 is Now Available for Download

November 9th, 2010 · 5 Comments · GeForce 3D Vision

Today, with the release of the new GeForce GTX 580 GPUs Nvidia has also released new drivers version 262.99, however these apparently only work with the new GPUs. So if you haven’t updated your 3D Vision driver for a while as well as your GPU drivers you can download the 3D Vision Driver CD 1.38 that was released yesterday and that includes the updated drivers version 260.99 WHQL. This driver update is especially important as it includes 3D Vision game profiles for Call of Duty: Black Ops that just got released today as well as Tom Clancy’s HawX 2. The new drivers also add update for new 3D Vision-capable LCD monitors like the Planar SA2311W I’ve already mentioned about here on the blog, as well as Hannstar HS233 and I-O Data 3D231XBR that will soon be available. What I was surprised to find was that the 3D Vision Video Player packed in the release is not the latest version 1.6.4 and is instead is an older installation for 1.6.2, but I suppose this will be quickly resolved. Below is the link for downloading the latest driver CD, but it is not linking to the official Nvidia website, but instead to the new GeForce.com that was just launched in beta, so you can take a quick look at it too.

The 3D Vision Video Player Just Got Updated to version 1.6.2

August 27th, 2010 · 16 Comments · GeForce 3D Vision

It has been a while since the last update for the 3D Vision Video Player was released, but the new version 1.6.2 brings some new features along with improvements and fixes, so you should update it now. Among the more interesting new features is the addition of support for MXF files of Digital Cinema Packages and the JPEG2000 video decoder, along with support for 3D Vision Surround mode. Of course when in 3D Vision Surround mode the video gets played on the center screen only and not stretched to all screens, unless maybe if it is with wide enough resolution, however this is better than the player just crashing as it did in the older versions when using Surround setups. You can see the full lists of changes in the new 3D Vision Video Player version 1.6.2 on the official download page linked below.

A Few More Stereoscopic 3D Videos from Russia by Igor Daurov

July 6th, 2010 · 2 Comments · 3D Movies & Videos

I’ve found another Russian studio called Daurov stereo 3D that is shooting stereo 3D movies and has a few samples of these movies available. There are four different stereoscopic 3D videos in 1080p Dual-Stream WMV format and that means that you need to use the 3D Vision Video Player or the Stereoscopic Player to open them, otherwise with any non-3D capable video player supporting this format only a 2D version of the video will be shown. And although the resolution is 1080p the image quality is not the best possible, although still quite good and the 3D effect is very nice, so definitely worth watching. The author of the videos Igor Daurov is also selling the full versions of two of the movies with a price of something between $15 and $20 USD (on DVD), so if you are interested you can try contacting him, but the whole website of the studio is in Russian.
