The 3D Vision Blog’s Forum Already With Over 1000 Registered Users

May 23rd, 2011 · 2 Comments · General 3D News

A small, but important milestone has been recently achieved by the 3D Forum, namely getting more than 1000 registered members actively talking about stereo 3D technology, exchanging useful information, helping each other and so on. As of this moment the total number of topics in the forum is 1207 and the total number of posts is 4071, still a lot of room for improvement, so I invite you to join the forum and continue discussing 3D technology there as well and not only here on the bog part of the website. And as I cannot personally cover just about anything 3D on the blog, the forum is there to help you exchange more information and talk about other topics as well that may not be covered on the blog.

The 3D Vision Blog Has Just Turned 1 Year Old Today

June 14th, 2010 · 23 Comments · General 3D News

I almost forgot that there is a very good reason to celebrate today, as the 3D Vision Blog has just become one year old… on this date exactly one year ago I decided to start the blog and it was online in a matter of just few hours. Since its start the blog has come a long way, growing in terms of number of visitors and accumulation a lot of information, and now besides the blog part where I try to write useful information regarding 3D Vision and other stereo 3D technologies, solutions, events and so on, there is now a 3D Forum also available. The goal of the 3D discussion forum is to be a place where people interested in all things stereoscopic 3D can communicate with each other, share information, help each other… as I cannot cover just about everything, I’m just a single person doing this as a hobby. There are already 150 members registered in the Forum and it is being around for just about a month now, so you are welcome to join the 3D community too…

I do hope that my efforts are helpful to a lot of people, as this was my main goal when I started the blog – to help other people using 3D Vision (at first) and then extending to coverage of information to other stereoscopic 3D setups, as well as 3D gaming, 3D Video and 3D Photography etc. I’m trying to cover as much as possible things and provide reviews, guides, helpful tips and so on, but you’ll have to excuse me as sometimes I just don’t have the needed resources, access to hardware and/or software and it might even be a matter of not enough time, because of work (as I said this is just my hobby) or other things requiring my urgent attention.

And now, when the blog is already 1 year old, I can look back at the time that has passed and say that the idea for creating this blog was good and lets see if it can make another one and get even bigger and better community for people interested in S3D technology. What do you think.?

The Worldwide Interest in 3D, Based on the Visitors Here at the Blog

May 12th, 2010 · 7 Comments · General 3D News

The 3D Vision Blog has been online for about 11 months now, it first started as a blog dedicated mostly to Nvidia’s 3D Vision technology, but further extended to cover other stereoscopic 3D solutions and technologies. Of course the reason for that is my constantly growing interest in different areas that are connected to 3D, so the blog is also evolving with time, with the latest addition being the introduction of the 3D Discussion Forum earlier this month. The 3D Vision Blog was created soon after I finally bought a 3D Vision kit consisting of the active shutter glasses and the Samsung 2233RZ monitor, but of course I was using and was long before that interested in different stereo 3D solutions. But in stereo 3D you can never know enough or have enough experience, so you can always learn something new and get more experience in achieving the best 3D results. So the idea of the blog was while I’m learning new things, to also share them with people that are interested as well and I think things turned out quite well, but let me show what I mean by giving out some statistical information. The data below is based on all the people that visited the 3D Vision Blog since the beginning of this year, until the end of last month and not the whole 11 months that the blog has been “out there”. I’ll try to summarize some of the statistical information in order for you to get an idea about the constantly growing worldwide interest in stereoscopic 3D solutions and technologies…

I should start with the fact that the 3D Vision Blog currently has around 4000-4500 unique visitors daily and since the beginning of this year there were about half a million absolute unique people interested in stereo 3D that visited it. They came from 193 different countries/territories, with just a few places mostly in Africa not covered, so you can get the idea that the everyone and everywhere is interested more or less. Of course in some territories the interest in 3D is bigger than others, for example in North America, Western Europe and Australia. But that is probably due to the fact that the blog is written in English language, and that kind of limits it to mostly English speaking countries, so it is not getting that much attention from Asia, but then again they probably also do have a lot of local alternatives…

In the image above you can see which countries have the highest interest in 3D (just the top 10), based of course on the visitors on the Blog. United States is number 1 as expected, with close to 1/3 of the total visitors coming from there, followed by United Kingdom, Germany, Canada, France, Spain, Italy, Russia, Brazil and Australia. But as I already said, there are visitors coming here from all over the world that are interested in 3D and that interest is constantly growing, a trend that is easy to notice when looking at the traffic graph over time. And this increase in interest is not only coming from the users side, but also from the people in the industry that tend to organize more and more 3D-related events, present new 3D solution and of course work more actively on developing stereo 3D content.

And here is another useful piece of information – a list of the top 5 topics posted on the blog with the biggest interest since the beginning of this year, and you can judge by them what are the areas that most of the users are really interested in when talking about 3D…

1. What to Choose: IMAX 3D versus RealD versus Dolby 3D for 3D Movies?
2. Avatar HD Movie Trailer in Stereoscopic 3D Format
3. 2D to 3D Realtime Video Conversion Script for Avisynth v0.3
4. Acer Aspire GD245HQ 120Hz 3D Vision-ready Monitor Review
5. Adults Only (18+) Stereoscopic Pictures and Movies from Japan

I do hope that this information is interesting and maybe even useful to you in order to make your own conclusions about the “3D craze” that is becoming available everywhere around the globe and is affecting just about anyone… ;)
