So, bearing in mind this is my first post, I must look a bit silly with a title like that but do hear me out.

I am trying to find a way that would help me post process my game screenshots better/quicker. It is purely for the game Train Simulator 2013 which runs DX9 and I have single a 650Ti.

What I am looking to achieve is an easy way of getting a grayscale depth map of a screenshot - an image with black for the closest objects, and white for the furthest - that could then be used as a layer mask, that would enable me to use Photoshop's lens blur filter to get a bit more creative. So I either need the game to output a standard 2d image and a pure grayscale depth map as two separate images, or to output two side by side JPEG images that I can then use in order to create a depth map.

I hope this isn't confusing, it's basically to get realistic looking depth of field effects in my screenshots, as if they were taken with real camera and lens combinations.
