Hi! I have been looking for tools to convert 3D videos from my Fuji W3 to be able to watch them on my HTC Evo 3D or my LG Cinema 3D TV. After a lot of research, I could not find anything simple or fast. So I decided to gather information and create something that could fit my needs. Now, I would like to share the result with you, as I think many people are still looking for this kind of solution.

I wrote a Windows script based on ffmpeg that is able to convert 3D videos into another 3D format. The output file will be a mp4 file using h264 and aac codecs.

The input files can be AVI 3D (2 streams), side-by-side (full and half), top-and-bottom/over-under (full and half).
The output files can be 2 streams, side-by-side (full and half), top-and-bottom (full and half), row interleaved, anaglyph (red/cyan, red/cyan using the Eric Dubois algorithm, green/magenta, yellow/blue).

The height of the video can be specified to fit any screen (full HD, HD, qHD...).

The audio can also be set (number of channels, sampling rate and bit rate).

You must first download ffmpeg binary for Windows here => (use the 32-bit static), unzip the file anywhere on your drive, and copy/paste the path to the bin folder at the beginning of the script (do not be afraid, it has to be done only once).

To configure the script, modify the values described above and save the file (I personally have several copies of the script for each configuration).

Then to use it, drag and drop any file or folder on the bat icon. Depending on the number of files, their duration, and the parameters you set, the process can take a long time. So be patient !!

It is not perfect and can surely be improved: feel free to make suggestions.
I have not tested all the possibilities: if you find a issue while using this, I will try to fix it.
If you did all what I said and you cannot make it work, I will be happy to help.

It took me a lot of time to find out all the parameters in this script, so please tell me if this was helpful.

Enjoy !!!

Major update of the script (attachment below). Some bugs have been fixed and the following options were added:
- file extension not case sensitive
- slow down or speed up video (for slow motion and time-lapse)
- set a start time
- set a duration
- swap left view to right and vice versa
- set frame rate
- deinterlace video
- set encoding speed
- automatically set video quality (no need to calculate the bitrate)
- mute audio
- save output file in subdirectory

!!! Note that it is not possible anymore to convert to anaglyph or row-interleaved with latest version of FFMEG !!!

I tested it as much as I could, but if you experience some issue, let me know so I can fix them.

Thanks for sharing this.

For implementing support for row/column interleaved, checkerboard and frame sequential formats you'll probably need to include AviSynth as these formats will need a bit more complex processing...

Hi. I have set up per your instructions all of the software. What settings do you recommend for me in this situation? I am wanting to convert a file from the Fuji W3 to the LG Optimus P920 3D. I hear that the same settings for the EVO 3D can work for this as well.

Hey maxwell, sorry for the delay, I haven't been checking this thread for a while.

Just in case you're still looking for an answer, I would use the default settings (except for the height):
- height=480
- fpain=2streams
- fpaout=halfsbs
- videobitrate=1500k
- audiochannels=2
- audiorate=44100
- audiobitrate=160k

It should work fine. Tell me if it doesn't..

I also made major updates on my script to add options like changing the frame rate, swapping the views (L->R and R->L) and some bug corrections. I could send it to you if you're interested.
