Yep, great offer if you live in the US.

I was considering getting the GS-TD1, but the GY-HMZ1 is the better choice and not much more expensive like the case with the two Sony versions... now I'll only have to wait for HMZ1 to appear on the market here as it is not yet available ;)

It even comes a bit cheaper from Amazon, when added in the cart the price is about $1720 USD - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005QBTEIW?ie=UTF8&tag=3dvibl-20&linkCode=shr&camp=213733&creative=393177&creativeASIN=B005QBTEIW&ref_=sr_1_1&qid=1318249990&sr=8-1

You mention a JVC "software" upgrade in your news item as if it were a firmware upgrade (making the consumer cam possibly do 24p). The annoucenment from JVC is about an upgrade to the Pixela software that comes with the camera. The upgrade of that software will transcode the JVC 3D videos to make an AVCHD 2.0 3D blu ray. There is no announcement of a firmware upgrade.

The relevant JVC links are:

http://www3.jvckenwood.com/press/201...d1_update.html

and

http://www.jvc.be/article.php?id=100127&catid=7&lg=nl

Do you have a JVC link indicating there will be a firmware upgrade? I do not see one anywhere.

There were multiple news sites talking about a firmware update and possibility to get progressive recording mode supported, but since this is one of the main advantages of the HMZ1 model and considering it is already available on the market the chance for this to happen seems less probable now.

For example: http://en.akihabaranews.com/105483/camcorder/jvc-upgrade-its-3d-gs-td1-camera-with-avchd-2-0

would be very interesting if somebody can share a version of its mediabrowser 3 BE so we can check how it burns 50i ou 60i
to 3D blu-ray in 24p. (what kind of conversion it use and how good is result)
would be aslo very interesting if it can take other 3D files (from the sony TD1) for example.

I will purchase the JVC soon (as soon as i can get rid of my sony TD1E, ask for price ! it must go, i even provide a free laptop to go with or anything else that can help to get rid of it) so i can compare the Sony and the JVC side by side.
I am pretty on the edge with the WAF (wife acceptance factor) , so i need to make some room in the basement before adding any charge to my VISA.

Currently i am pretty happy with the sony NX3D1 (except for price) but the new JVC i a real deal at half price of the sony.
We can also expect the price of the sony to dive (it has already been the case for the TD1, at FNAC (french dealer) it was priced 1800 swiss franc, i purchased it 1500 swiss franc, and now in the same shop it is listed 1200 swiss franc.
We can expect the NX3D1 to align around 2200$ if they want to sell some.
