Mercalli V2 Pro is a program that lets you stabilize shaky footage during post processing. Mercalli detects and distinguishes between intended movements, such as panning or zoom shots, and unintended shocks and shakes. Mercalli analyses every frame in a video clip, and whenever it detects any shake or tracking of an object, Mercalli stabilizes the frame by repositioning the entire image to compensate. This reduces camera shake and smooths the object. The result is always a significant improvement, and even perfect footage can be achieved during post-processing!

faster than my typing.

Its a video stabilizer plugin for cs5, vegas, etc, and final cut, as well as a stand alone version that can deshake / smooth pan stereo recordings. its the only thing i'm aware of that will work with a stereo file on a time line.

Hi !

Actually, it does not stabilize 3D stereo video.

It's called 3D stabilization because the software analyze the 3D movement of the camera (x,y,z : not stereo 3D) and reverse it to stabilize the camera.

It does not work if you input a stereo footage.

Have you tried processing the left and right streams separately and then joining them together, though I suspect the two streams may drift too much apart after the stabilization...

No I didn't tried to stabilize both separately.

As there is an algorythm for generating control points on the frames and tracking them, I suppose the stereo separation will produce different points on left/right frames, and will stabilize them differently.

The only way I know for now is to use VirtualDub with deshaker plugin. (read deshaker docs). Run deshaker pass 1 on one of the video (left or right), and apply pass 2 on both videos (without running pass 1). Both video will be de-shaked the same way. You should also remove 'detect rotation', as rotating pictures to correct rotation will corrupt parallax effect.

Regards,

Olivier.

Thanks, I'll try the Deshaker plugin in VirtualDub.
