Hi all,

Firstly many thanks to Bloody for his excellent support here.

My Kit:
*Acer X110 3D Ready Projector
*Windows 7 32bit
*NVidia 430 Graphics card
*Drivers installed for graphics card are: 270.61

I have to be in 120herts 800x600 to get 3D to work. I normally run in 60herts 1024x768.

Any picture in 120 herts is really really dark – no setting via the projector helps.

Is this likely a problem with my graphics card or that I currently use vga, or other reason?

What resolutions are you using with the X110?

Many thanks.

For stereoscopic 3D support to work you need to be in the native projector resolution.

What kind of glasses are you using with the projector, maybe with others you can get brighter image?

When you look at the projected image without glasses does it seem much brighter than when you are looking through the glasses?

Have in mind that when you are in stereo 3D mode each eye only gets something like half of the brightness you get in 2D mode, so it is normal to have lower brightness in 3D mode.

Hi Bloody,

Thought so - still not sure why it is soo dark when I change resoloution though.

The glasses I have do make things worse as well:

But the problem is bad before I put the glasses on.

So I guess the next question is....

What is the best projectot / Grapghic card combo for brightnes during the daytime and highest resoloution?

Thanks you Bloody and all.

I have a similar problem as well with a BENQ MW512, can't get the 3d to work at higher than 800 x 600, however with the glasses i have it is watchable but have aspect ratio problems.

The stereo 3D mode only works in the native projector resolution.

So, if a 3D Vision ready projector has a native 4:3 1024x768 resolution will it work with this resolution using 3D Vision?

I heard that there are some issues with native 1280x800 resolution which works only if you set up the projector as 1280x720...
I was wondering if you get this issue also with 1024x768...?

Yes, normally you have to use the native resolution of the projector as it is the only one supporting stereoscopic 3D (120Hz), the only exclusion is 1280x800 resolution projectors that may work at 1280x720 in 3D mode as well or only in it. If you are using HDMI 1.4 interface for the 3D mode only 720p and 1080p resolutions are supported in 3D mode.

About the HDMI 1.4, you mean also if you use it with a PC? What about HDMI 1.3?

The HDMI 1.4 interface has standardized set of parameters regarding the support of 3D, so it does not matter with what you are using it, if you want to take advantage of the frame packaging for 3D you are limited to 720p 50/60Hz 3D or 1080p 24Hz 3D mode.

HDMI 1.3 uses frame sequential mode for stereoscopic 3D and is good for up to 720p at 120Hz (60Hz per eye in 3D mode), due to interface bandwidth limitation you cannot go for higher resolution with high refresh rate.
