I think 1080p 120hz monitor is better than 1440p ips monitor because
at 27'' screen its hard to note the difference between 1080p and 1440p also 120hz will be faster than 60hz

Apart from resolution lot of factors determine quality of monitors or tv's like
color reproduction, better calibration, brightness, gamma, input lag, refresh rate, response time, color accuracy, contrast ratio, dynamic contrast ratio, screen type etc.. in every aspect ips sucks when compared to 120hz led monitor.

This is my opinion but correct me if im wrong and also did i miss something

A better and in depth explanation to prove why one is better than the other is appreciated and also mention the pros and cons of 1440p ips and 1080p 120hz monitors dont take 3d into consideration for this comparison.

Thanks in advance for your opinion guys . God Bless

All 120Hz 3D monitors use TN panels, they are faster in terms of response time, but not as good as the IPS panels in terms of wide viewing angles or accuracy of color reproduction. So it is very important what you are getting the display for... if it is for gaming, then you probably don't need the IPS panel anyway, and you would benefit more from the faster response and the higher refresh rate. But if it is not for gaming, or the gaming will be just a small part of what you are going to be using the monitor for, then the might weight more on the IPS panel... although the not so standard higher 1440p resolution might as well turn out to be somewhat of a problem for some kinds of work.

My friend had a dell u2711 and recently got asus vg278h so we compared them side by side watching movies on ips monitor was great but playing games was horrible due to lag.
And black was not really black on ips monitor , if u are used to 120 hz monitor u will never want play games on ips monitor

But do u think u can notice the difference between 1080p and 1440p on 27'' screen size because i was not able to differentiate it . God Bless

Well, on 1440p you can get more details, but it is a totally different matter if you actually can see them or not... that varies from person to person, the distance you are using the monitor from and other factors... If 1080p is good enough for you, then no need to go for higher resolution as it also requires more processing power, not that using a 1080p 3D monitor is less demanding on the GPU ;)

1080p 3d is more demanding than 1440p .
I didnt say that i wasnt able to differentiate 1080p and 1440p, but on a 27'' screen the difference is minimal even if u are sitting close but for gaming a lot of factors apart from resolution determines smooth gaming experience such as refresh rate, input lag, response time, screen type etc.. in every aspect 120hz monitor beats ips in terms of gaming

but by the way i thought that 120hz backlight montor produces better color accuracy and color reproduction but u said that ips does better than backlight monitor in these aspects . God Bless
