Is there such a writer or is it all in the software and licensing, I looked around town and on the net and no clear answer as yet.
I have since bought the sony 3D camcorder and I'm very impressed with the quality . I want to make some 3D blu-ray dics but there's going to be a catch some where along the line.

The writing part of a Blu-ray 3D movie is the same as with normal Blu-ray movies, the device is the same and you can write the disc if you have the generated ISO image with a normal Blu-ray writing software. The part that is different is the authoring of Blu-ray 3D discs and you need a special software for that, unfortunately most of these solutions are still professional oriented and they cost quite a lot.

For a more consumer oriented authoring solution you can check this: http://3dvision-blog.com/6171-cyberlink-powerdirector-10-now-available-with-extensive-3d-support/

You are so right in your assumptions, there is always a catch.

I have had a BluRay writer for about 2 years and used it many, many times for both ordinary and BluRay, including 3D.

To author 3D BluRay you need some software and Bloody gives you a link to Power Director 10, which I also have. I have authored many 3D BluRay discs, and here is the catch. It's not only time consuming but you also need a very high spec PC. Lots and lots of people have had problems with Power Director 10, and it's most likely that their PC is not up to the task, as it's very demanding.

So the first thing I would suggest you look at this forum and gather some background and then proceed.

Thanks for the tips

I've been using Magix pro edit 18 (MX) and like there programing as well their music maker is real plus, I may have to buy the professional editing program for editing 3D Blu ray on to disc or should I say authoring...

I did have to buy the sony codec for the program to work in 3D, my new computer is quick but the graphics card needs the upgrade.

Update

I bought the LG blu ray writer/player and nividia 430 graphics card and the PS 3 LED 3D display monitor for $720 taxes in.
I upgraded to Magix's video maker 4 and I get some error codes but with a couple of updates I should be able to author 3D blu ray.
I'm glad all the different brands of components work together...weo... :!:

PS
Power dvd came with the LG blu ray player and for a small fee upgraded to the 12 verision
