hello everyone
i going to buy a new laptop my current (tosiba a505 i7 500gb 4 gb ram nvidia 310m) bought one year ago it was fine but with the new games and 3d i felt like its time to upgrade

my budget is around $1400-$1700 (i know i can find a decent decent desktop but iam laptop's fan)
first iam going to use this device mainly for whatching 3d,hd content and playing video games connecting via hdmi to my 3d panasonic plasma gt46

over the past days i was looking in the toshiba Qosmio's and found x775 is the good choise with new sandy bridge cpu's nvidia 560 1.5 vram gpu bluray reader ,8 gb of ram 500 to 1tb 7200 hard drive and i was going to buy it (as i was a toshiba fan since my tecra a2) but a friend of mine adviced me to take a look at asus proudcts and i liked what i find the g74sx serius is better choise than the
Qosmio price and spec but the qosmio looks alot better than asus
now iam about to purchase it ASUS G74SX-XT1 $1500 form tigerdirect core i7 sceond genration 500GB 7200 hd (it can be upgrded with ssd or another hyprid) bluray reader/multi dvd 12 gb of ram nvida 560 gddr5 with (not like the toshiba 1.5gb 128 bit) 3 gb of vram 192 bit

i need your advice regarding the asuse brand as this maybe my first time with them and if there is a better choise for the same price
thanks

Both laptops have 560M video card and that is the most important thing when talking about gaming and especially stereoscopic 3D gaming, the bit more memory and thus a wider memory bus on the Asus probably won't be making that much of a difference. Having 3GB video memory on a mobile card of this class is more of a marketing trick than something that useful or giving a serious performance improvement over the 1.5GB version for the user. The other specs of both laptops are also very good and not that different from each other, but it seems that the Asus is trying to attract more attention with beefed up numbers, although you will probably not need or benefit from having more of everything. Similar to the 3GB video memory, the 12GB system memory is a bit overkill for a laptop, unless maybe if we are talking about a mobile workstation that will handle a lot of professional, but when talking about a gaming laptop even 8GB should be more than enough. So I'd look for other things, not the numbers, like for example what is the difference of the warranty these two laptops come with...

Have you tried with different resolutions and modes, both 2D and 3D, all giving you blank screen? Making the TV primary display or the only one active?

What is the exact model of your Panasonic 3D HDTV, have you checked if it is in the compatibility list for the 3DTV Play software?
