sam75, if you already have an Nvidia GPU, but haven't purchased the display, you better save the trouble and go for officially supported 3D Vision monitor.

You will probably be able to make the Samsung work via an EDID override (using the Samsung 3D glasses, you can't use the Nvidia glasses with that monitor), but you'll never know when it might stop working...

@sam75

a) you can see 3D movies just fine with Samsung glasses with Stereoscopic Player, or PowerDVD(for Blurays); just manually switch the monitor on 3D format. You don't even have to 'Enable 3D vision' - For 3D gaming thou, is a diffrent ball game, and you should go as Bloody suggests for a 3D Vision ready monitor(you'll pay extra :( )

b) EDID override is to trick the Nvidia drivers, that you have a supported 3D Vision monitor(what Nvidia glasses is for) - but I doubt you'll get satisfying results

EDID Override works fine for all games that support 3D Vision, the only problem is monitor shuts itself down when exiting 3D mode :)

Guys it didnt work. It seems that I will invest on a ATI card so as to avoid all this hassle! Is there a way to have both cards (Nvidia GTX 660TI) & ATI (thinking of purchasing HD 7850 2GB DDR5) in the same MOBO? My MOBO is Gigabyte GA-P75-D3 and running Windows 7.
I spoke to another salesman and he informed me that it is possible, I just have to use the DVI on the GPU which I would like to use.
Also I have a Gigabyte Max Green 750 power supply.
Thanks

Can you please show me the steps (i'm a newbie here). I have Windows 7 Pro 64. I tired to use steps given by the Italianboy but I was not able to pass the first step since it gives description for Windows 8.
Thank you for your time and efforts.

Download Acer EDID override driver, find you current monitor in Device Manager, open it's properties, chose Update and provide path to downloaded Acer driver. It's a standard driver update procedure, you can google how to do it :)
Then reinstall nVidia display drivers (chose Custom install and make sure 3D Vision components are checked) and you are good to go. Reboot may be required before 3d vision driver can detect monitor and display settings in nvidia control panel.

These Samsung monitors don't support 3D Vision officially, because of royalties to nVidia maybe :) They support only TriDef software which has no Frame Sequential 3D mode on nVidia cards. FS is the best method of displaying 3D, because it renderers frames in full resolution (that's why fps in games is halved when using this method).
You can play games or watch movies in Side-by-Side mode without changing the monitor driver, but it won't be FullHD :)

Thanks Mikanoshi, I have done as advised but still if im using the Samsung 3D glasses, I'm still not seeing movies in 3D whether using Stereoscopic Player ,TriDefMediaPlayer or PowerDVD12 although the response time has been set up as "Normal" but still im seeing blurring images.

Please advise as i'm getting so upset that I feel like throwing this GPU and going for ATI.

Thanks mate

No, no, nVidia forever! :D
Do you have 3D Vision options available in nvidia control panel? What films are you trying to view? Over/Under / Side-By-Side?
3D vision is only required for Blu-ray 3D movies in frame sequential mode, if picture looks like this:

you just need to select 3D mode in monitor settings manually, only then 3D glasses will be activated.

Sorry, where can I find this in the Nvidia Control Panel. Please note that I'm using the latest Nvidia driver 310.90. Please guide me through.

Yes, the movie comes side by side (i'm testing 3d movie of Spiderman - "The.Amazing.Spider-Man.2012.1080p.BluRay.3D.H-SBS"). Do you think that I need to get a Bluray player and 3D movie so as I can test this further? Also I'm still using the Samsung 3d glasses and not the Nvidia one.
Thanks .

Why do people want to watch movies Side-By-Side (SBS)? Cant we have full one screen 3d movie?
