I want to buy Sony KDL-32EX720(728 or 729 in some countries), but I want to know if anyone has tested this 3DTV and if there are any performance issues like too much ghosting.

3D HDTVs in general have less crosstalk/ghosting as compared to 3D LCD monitors, so you can expect pretty low level of ghosting, but I can't tell how much exactly with this model as I haven't personally tested it. However if somebody else has it he can run the simple and quick crosstalk/ghosting tests I'm doing here and post the results so we'll be able to compare them with other solutions.

I have gone to my friend's Sony Store today. Tested 32EX720 with these PS3 games/titles:
  • Killzone 3
  • Crysis 2
  • Gran Turismo 5
  • Wipeout HD
  • Motorstorm 3D demo
  • Uncharted 3 3D Trailer

I was impressed that 32EX720 have less(almost none) crosstalk/ghosting than the earlier Sony & Samsung 3DTVs that I've tested.

So I've bought one, but unfortunatelly I've to wait until tomorrow morning 9:00 :mrgreen: because 5-year warranty is applied only if Sony Service sets up the TV.

Great, maybe you will share more about your experience with the TV set when you get it ;)

It has arrived!

The tests that I have done so far & the results are:

  • Killzone 3 PS3(native 3D):
    A little ghosting, 3D is very good.
  • Pro evolution Soccer 2011 PS3(simulated 3D):
    Simulated 3D is very acceptable. Gives some depth with no ghosting. Way better than the 2D game.
  • Despicable Me 3D (Half-SBS film) streaming from my Mac Mini (the TV is set to SBS 3D mode):
    Very little ghosting in some distant objects.
  • Mac Mini desktop (simulated 3D):
    Not so good but a different experience to use my Mac as 3D ;)

As you can guess, it's been a very little time since I've received the 3DTV and had a little time to adjust the settings. But as far as I've seen, you can calibrate the TV to get better results. One setting good for a game, might not be good for another one.

I think if I lower the brightness and/or backlight, ghosting will be less visible.

Oh and Bloody,
is there any or do you know a software like stereoscopic player for Mac? Since I've sold my PC and bought a Mac a month ago, I couldn't test my 3D movies with 3D Play.

And is there any difference between playing a SBS movie on my Mac with turning on SBS from the 3DTV's menu & using 3D Play or a stereoscopic player software?

Without a player that can output frame packaged stereo 3D video according to the HDMI 1.4 standard you are not going to get full resolution for the left and right frames, although the difference between half resolution and full resolution frames for 1080p is hardly noticeable for most users.

Unfortunately I'm not aware of a software player that works on Mac and supports HDMI 1.4 output, so you might have to install Windows as a second OS or in a virtual machine and play form there using PowerDVD for example.
