Interestingly this website ( http://www.digitalversus.com/lcd-monito ... /test.html ) claims that the monitor not only has a build in emitter, but also HDMI 1.4 support. Ill keep looking into this as the BenQ seems like my best bet so far.

I'm not sure why they claim that, but check BenQ's official specifications for both models and you'll see that the T version does not have the IR Emitter built-in: http://gaming.benq.com/gaming-monitor/xl2420t/specification/

Yh, the T doesn't have an IR emmiter, yet I keep finding reports saying that it has HDMI 1.4 support which is interesting. Yet the nvidia 3D vision website claims that it doesn't have HDMI support as well.

I will send an email to BenQ asking them about whether the T has HDMI 1.4 support or not.

I was also wondering if the HDMI 1.4 support was essential in any way. In other words, would it make the gaming experience significantly better or not?

Would it also be possible to use some type of adapter to allow the PS3 and the monitor to connect?

It doesn't have as without a built-in IR emitter there is simply no way to synchronize the glasses with 3D 3D input coming from the HDMI, but it seems that most people are not aware of that... if you connect an external IR emitter it will work just fine for PC over DL-DVI or DP, but not over HDMI, because the external USB IR emitter requires drivers while the built-in one does not need such.

HDMI 1.4 support is required for use with consoles and other consumer electronic devices that support HDMI 1.4 for 3D, there are adapters that can convert HDMI 1.4 input into frame sequential output that the 3D display should be capable of working with, but these are intended for 3D DLP projectors and you may not be able to make them work with a 3D monitor. Furthermore the total price you'd have to pay for a monitor and a converter box would probably be higher than to just go for the TX model instead...

Would any of these adapters allow me to connect my PS3 to the T monitor?

1. http://www.tvcables.co.uk/cgi-bin/tvcab ... apter.html
2. http://www.sourcingmap.com/hdtv-dvid-du ... =ukfroogle
3. http://www.bestofferbuy.com/HDTV-DVID-D ... n=gbase_uk

Also, if these connectors do work, would it be worth using the HDMI connection (using the adapter) instead of using any of the other connections?

No, none of these will not work.

You need an active adapter that will actually convert the input signal, not just give you another physical connector.

Still not what you'd need, you'll have to go for something like these:
http://3dvision-blog.com/3769-the-optoma-3d-dlp-projector-adapter-3d-xl-is-coming-in-january/
http://3dvision-blog.com/5100-viewsonic-vp3d1-3d-processor-brings-hdmi-1-4a-to-3d-dlp-projectors/

Though I'm not sure if they'll work properly with a 3D monitor as they are originally made for 3D DLP projectors...
