My Pre-Ordered Oculus Rift DK2 Unit Has Finally Been Shipped

oculus-rfit-dk2-shipped

The day has started with some good news, the Oculus Rift DK2 that I have preordered has apparently been shipped, so hopefully next week I’ll be able to share some first hand experience with it as well as to compare it to the old dev kit. This time Oculus is apparently shipping the units from UK for orders from Europe, so this should make things easier and faster than last year when they were all shipped from USA. Do note however that this pre-order for the DK2 was made in the first day after the pre-orders have been announced and it has been shipped near the end of the second week that Oculus has beens hipping. So if you have preordered a unit later on it may take some time for your to arrive and if you preorder just now your unit will most likely be shipped sometime in September according to the Oculus website.

    Just received my 2 DK2’s today. However, I’m still at work, so the only thing I can say about them, is that they look slightly less ugly than the DK1.

    I look forward to reading your in depth review.
    My main problem with the Rift is while its a great piece of hardware that it has very limited support of games. I know some people hate me for this but I have very little interest in indie titles and frankly only indies are interested in it. It requires such a high constant frame rate that games with technical prowess are not interested. I am really hoping things will change with time though.

    Its such a fantastic idea but it really feels like games itself is two steps back.

    @eqzitara:

    I recently read that you gave up on fixing games for 3D. I totally understand. However, I’d like to thanks you (and Helix and other modders as well) for giving me many, many hours in glorious 3D.

    THANKS!
