Deus Ex: Human Revolution AMD HD3D to 3D Vision Wrapper (WiP)

September 7th, 2011 · 11 Comments · GeForce 3D Vision

Here is an interesting user project that is still work in progress by Rajko Stojadinovic (rajkosto). An AMD HD3D to Nvidia 3D Vision wrapper, that would allow games made to work specifically with the HD3D technology to also work with 3D Vision. So far the status of the project as can be seen on the video above shows an Over/Under split screen output from the game Deus Ex: Human Revolution with the next step to convert the Over/Under format to a Side-by-Side and activate the 3D Vision pageflipping mode. Seems as a quite useful piece of software especially if we continue to get more games with native stereoscopic 3D support in their engine that can only output the stereo 3D images to compatible AMD HD3D-ready hardware. And a good reason for 3D Vision owners to actually want to play the game in stereo 3D mode with proper stereoscopic 3D output coming right from the game engine and not generated by the 3D Vision software.

This is fantastic! It was a real let-down when I learned that the HUD wasn’t centered in Nvidia Surround, and then I learned that 3D vision didn’t work either. So thanks for working on this!

Any possibility your wrapper would also work with Mass Effect 2? It’s got all kinds of glitches in Nvidia 3D Vision, but it’s listed as an HD3D compliant game.

So how far are we off getting this to work with 3D vision correctly, as I have not touched the game for a few days and I might as well hands off until it gets fixed by someone other than the developers as long as it’s just round the corner?

You can go try out the beta version i released on my webpage: http://rajko.info/hd3d/
The big delay was because i was trying hard to fix the soft shadows problem, in many different ways, but gave up at the end.
    Have fun

from the notes of patch 630 that was just released: “One extra feature we can already confirm for a future patch is support for Nvidia 3DVision and Nvidia Surround.”
