The Nvidia 3D Vision Video Player Has Been Updated to Version 1.6.9

April 6th, 2011 · 2 Comments · GeForce 3D Vision

Apparently Nvidia released the updated version of the player on April 1st, but nobody believed them, however it is not a joke (I’ve just noticed the updated version). The free 3D Vision Video Player 1.6.9 is based on the latest version of the Stereoscopic Player, although it does not include the trial MVC video decoder as the latest Stereoscopic Player does. There are however a number of interesting new features and fixes that make the upgrade worthwhile, with the most important being:

– GPU accelerated 3D video decoding for MPEG-2 and H.264 using DirectX Video Acceleration (DXVA2), requires Release 265 and higher drivers.
– 3D Vision window mode video playback with both Window Aero on and off, requires Release 270 and higher drivers.

This is cool! I wanted this since 3D vision 1st hit…however, the 270.51 drivers have big issues with 3d vision in 110hz and 120hz refresh rates… So waiting for a nice fix to fully use this feature.

Hopefully we’ll soon have a WHQL version of the new 270 branch with all the bugs and issues resolved, so we can enjoy all the new features.
